Highlights In John's Will
Back

John Yarnold (b: 1554) of Hadsor indicated his soul was bequeathed into the hands of Almighty God in his will of 1608.
John had three living children at the time of his death.
  • Eldest child was a wayward son named Gower.
  • A daughter named Jane.
  • Youngest child was named Francis I.
He spelled their last names Yarnall.

Elizabeth Withnall (a maid) and Richard Lett (a servant) were named in his will.

In his will John stated that he wanted a headstone for himself, a headstone for his deceased wife Elinor Gower Yarnold, and a headstone for their deceased son named John.

Gower was considered to be wayward because he was practicing the ungodly life of swearing, drinking, and swaggering. He had to change that to receive his inheritance.

His sister Jane was to decide. If he did not change, his share was to go to Jane and Francis I. Francis I was the grandfather of the Philip who came to America.
